Men's Basketball Set for Sunday Spragins Matchup with West Alabama

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's basketball team welcomes West Alabama Sunday at 4 p.m. for a Gulf South Conference matchup at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.

General admission to all UAH men's basketball regular season home games is free this season, courtesy of Bentley Automotive. Reserved seating is additionally available for purchase online through HomeTown Ticketing.
 
The matchup on Sunday serves as the initial rematch between the Gulf South Conference's Co-Regular Season Champions from the 2022-23 campaign.
 
UAH comes into Sunday with a 4-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark in GSC play, following an 84-75 victory at Auburn Montgomery for the first road conference win of the season.
 
The Chargers are currently second in the GSC with 89.3 points per game over six contests, as the Blue & White have poured in 80 or more points in each game this season. UAH features two players in the top six of the league in scoring, including Luke Burnett in fourth at 20.7 points per game and Tommy Murr in sixth at 19.5 points per game.
 
Albertville, Alabama, native Dane Harding has been a driving force in the Chargers offense, leading the conference with 37 total assists and 6.2 assists per game. He has also turned the ball over just eight times to rate second in the GSC in assist-to-turnover ratio at 4.6.
 
West Alabama enters Sunday's matchup with a 5-1 overall record and a 2-0 GSC record, after topping Auburn Montgomery at home on Thursday by a score of 87-65. The Tigers average 77.6 points per game as a team, led by Kuran Garner at 14.4 points per contest. UWA has allowed the fewest points in the GSC this season at 55.0 per game.
 
UAH is 58-28 all-time against West Alabama, as the Chargers won the most recent matchup on March 12, 2023 in the NCAA tournament by a score of 72-56.
 
After Sunday's game, the Chargers look ahead to their first full weekend road trip in GSC play with games at Lee next Friday and Shorter next Sunday.
