HUNTSVILLE | The No. 5 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team completed a three-game Gulf South Conference series sweep of No. 9 Valdosta State by a final score of 7-6 on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park. UAH improves to 36-7 (21-2 GSC), while VSU slides to 32-9 (18-6 GSC).

UAH now has six consecutive wins over Valdosta State when playing at Charger Park.
The Chargers plated at least one run in each of the four innings, highlighted by a four-run rally in the second, to lead the way to the 7-6 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Senior
Kaylee Vaught led the UAH offense in the victory, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run while smashing a two-run homer in the fourth for her fifth round-tripper of the season.

Jada Henderson and
Lila Young registered two base hits against the Blazers, with Henderson notching a solo homer in the fourth and Young recording a double as one of her two base knocks. Henderson also recorded the Chargers lone steal of the contest.

Overall, UAH registered 11 base hits as a team with eight different Chargers recording at least one.

Josie Thompson earned the win in relief to improve to 4-1 this season, as she hurled 3.0 innings with two runs allowed and six strikeouts.

Katie Bracken picked up her first save of the season, tossing the final 2.2 innings with two runs allowed and three strikeouts.

UAH is back in action next weekend at Union for the final road series of the regular season.
