HUNTSVILLE | The No. 5 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team topped Miles in both games of a nonconference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Charger Park by scores of 4-1 and 10-6. UAH improves to 30-7, while MC dips to 15-15.

The Chargers are back in Gulf South Conference play this Saturday and Sunday at Christian Brothers for a three-game series.

UAH 4, MC 1
The Chargers offense was backed by a strong pitching tandem of
Josie Thompson and
Maddie Tankersley, as the duo combined for 7.0 innings with one hit allowed, zero walk and nine strikeouts in the 4-1 win.

Tankersley earned the win in relief to improve to 3-0 this season, after tossing the last 4.0 innings with zero hits allowed and six strikeouts.

Lawren Hayes led the UAH bats out of the leadoff spot with a 3-for-3 performance that included two runs and one stolen base.

Kaylee Vaught registered a team-high two RBI, while going 1-for-2 with one run scored in the game.

UAH 10, MC 6
UAH came from behind to win game two by a final score of 10-6 on Wednesday, as UAH plated eight of its 10 runs after trailing 6-4 through the top of the third.

Jessica Edde led the Chargers offense to the victory with a 2-for-2 performance with a team-high four RBI.
Gracie Green also had a strong performance with three RBI and one walk while going 1-for-2.

Sydney Harris earned her first collegiate win in relief for the Chargers, as she tossed 2.1 scoreless innings with one strikeout.

Kaylee Hawkins was effective in relief as well, working 2.0 shutout innings with four strikeouts to close out the contest.
