UAH Completes Fourth GSC Series Sweep of 2023 at CBU Saturday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. | The No. 5 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team completed the three-game sweep at Christian Brothers with a 2-0 victory on Saturday in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 33-5 (18-2 GSC), while CBU slides to 8-26 (3-18 GSC).
 
The Chargers amassed a 7-0 lead before the Buccaneers went on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth, and UAH went on to withstand a late push by the hosts to win 8-5 that sealed the three-game sweep.
 
Senior Kaylee Vaught registered a team-high three RBI in a 2-for-3 day at the plate with one double and one run scored. She now has eight multi-RBI games in the 2023 season.
 
UAH's offense recorded 11 base hits overall against CBU, led by Kinley Adams, Jada Henderson, Jessica Edde and Vaught with two hits apiece. Adams and Henderson additionally had one RBI each on Saturday, with Adams also recording a double in her 2-for-4 performance.
 
Maddie Tankersley started on the mound for the Chargers, turning in 3.0 innings with one run allowed and four strikeouts for a no-decision.
 
Katie Bracken earned the win in relief to improve to 12-1 this season, as she worked the final 3.2 innings with three earned runs allowed and five strikeouts.
 
UAH steps out of GSC play on Tuesday for the final nonconference regular season games of the 2023 season at Tuskegee on Tuesday. Doubleheader slated to begin at 12 p.m.
