HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville Director of Athletics Dr. Cade Smith announced the promotion of Sam Baldwin to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications on Wednesday.
 
Baldwin rises to the department's leadership team after serving the 2022-23 academic year as Director of Athletic Communications. Overall, he has been a member of the department since joining the Chargers as Coordinator of Athletic Communications in August of 2014.
 
"I am incredibly thankful of Dr. Smith for believing in me and allowing me to carry out my leadership and vision for UAH Athletic Communications," Baldwin said. "UAH Athletics has a proud tradition that I am excited to continue to grow while working alongside some of the best people college athletics has to offer."
 
Over his near-decade tenure as a Charger, Baldwin has helped oversee an expansive growth in social media exposure for the department in addition to improving video broadcasts for all sports.
 
This past year, Baldwin spearheaded a redesign of UAHChargers.com that strengthens the UAH Chargers brand and allows for future revenue development.
 
Baldwin, along with Tanner Mickey and Tucker Watts, manages the UAH Athletic Communications office which maintains the Chargers brand through media relations, website management, and social media. The department additionally oversees game day operations for all of UAH's 15 sponsored sports.

A native of Willoughby, Ohio, Baldwin owns a master's degree in Sport Administration from the University of Akron and a bachelor's degree in Sport Management from the University of Tampa.
