6/13/2024 11:00:00 AM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its 2024 spring academic honors on Thursday, and UAH was represented by 11 GSC All-Academic honorees and 119 GSC Honor Roll recipients.

UAH's 11 GSC Spring All-Academic honorees are the most since 2021 when the department's garnered 14 honorees. Additionally, the Chargers have recorded 100 or more GSC Spring Honor Roll recipients in five of the last seven years.

Women's Lacrosse led the way for the Chargers with four GSC All-Academic honorees including Sarah Cole, Riley Kirby, Tori Ryan and Isadora Springer.

Both Softball and Men's Track & Field had three all-academic performers apiece, including Alexa Douthitt, Lawren Hayes and Jada Henderson from Softball as well as Nathan Knox, Wilson McClain and Sam Wilhelm from Men's Track & Field. Emily McMurry from Women's Track & Field rounded out UAH's GSC All-Academic awardees.

Hayes, Kirby, Knox, Springer, and Wilhelm each repeated as GSC All-Academic performers in 2024.

In order to be named to the GSC All-Academic team, nominees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better their entire academic career at the institution and may not be freshmen or first-term transfer. The student-athlete must also be a significant contributor to the squad. Other factors include leadership, community service and extracurricular activities. Institutions are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions normally involved in the playing of that sport. Ties are not broken.

To achieve honor roll status, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or better and have competed in outside competition at the time the award was announced.

A full list of GSC Honor Roll recipients from UAH can be found through the GSC.
