No. 5 Men's Basketball Hosts West Alabama on Saturday for Military Appreciation Day

HUNTSVILLE | The No. 5 UAH men's basketball team hosts Military Appreciation Day, presented by AUSA and Radiance Technologies, for Saturday's Gulf South Conference matchup against West Alabama at 4 p.m. at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.

General admission to all UAH men's basketball regular season home games is free this season, courtesy of Bentley Automotive. Reserved seating is additionally available for purchase online through HomeTown Ticketing.

The Chargers come into the Saturday afternoon contest with a 15-1 overall record and a 10-0 mark in GSC play. Most recently, UAH defeated Montevallo 96-78, and Auburn Montgomery in Spragins Hall 85-67. 
 
Mick Hedgepeth has UAH rolling in his first year at the helm of the program as the Chargers rank first in numerous categories in the GSC, including scoring margin, field goal percentage, opponent field goal percentage, three point percentage, and assist-to-turnover ratio. 
 
Senior Tommy Murr is coming off of his third week being named GSC Player of the Week this season after totaling 18 assists in two games along with 18.5 points per game total. Murr is currently tied for 10th in all of NCAA Division II in assists per game at 6.0 and also is shooting 50-40-90 this season (51.3 FG%, 41.3 3P%, 93.2 FT%).
 
Luke Burnett is just two made three pointers away from breaking the GSC all-time record for career threes. The senior from Knoxville, Tennessee, has made 403 three pointers in his Charger career.  

Daniel Saylor tied the UAH single-game record for blocks in a game with seven against AUM and has turned away 43 opponent shots thus far this season. Saylor currently has 124 career blocks.

West Alabama enters Saturday's matchup with an overall record of 8-7 and 5–5 in GSC action, following a 83-73 loss to Montevallo on Saturday. The Tigers average 71.9 points and give up the fewest points per game in the GSC at 68.3 points. 

Following Saturday, UAH will head on the road to face off with Valdosta State on Thursday and West Florida on Saturday.
