Softball Falls in Sunday Series Finale Against West Florida

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH softball team fell in the final game of a three-game series against Gulf South Conference opponent West Florida 9-8 on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park.

The Chargers dropped to 15-14 (8-7 GSC), while the Argos are now 18-8 (11-4 GSC) after Sunday's game.

The game originally scheduled for Saturday had some momentous swings in the late innings as UAH held a 5-2 lead headed into the final inning. However, West Florida scored seven in the top half of the inning to go up four runs. UAH made a push with three runs in the bottom half, but were unable to regain the lead.

At the plate, the Chargers were led by Alexa Douthitt who went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a home run, while five total UAH batters had multi-hit games. Lawren Hayes hit a single and a RBI triple for the Chargers other extra-base hit, while Brittany Slaten, Maddie Cartron, and Sadie Thompson each added a pair of hits.

In the circle, Katie Bracken pitched 6.1 innings and struck out 10 West Florida batters.

The Chargers will face off with Auburn Montgomery next weekend in a three-game series at Charger Park.
