PENSACOLA, Fla. | The UAH softball team fell to the West Florida Argonauts, 3-1, in Gulf South Conference action on Saturday at the UWF Softball Complex.

UAH moves to 21-10 overall and 7-5 in GSC play, while West Florida improves to 19-6 overall and 8-4 in conference play.

West Florida opened the scoring in the second inning with a single to right center to start with a 1-0 lead. West Florida added two more runs in the fourth inning, as a runner reached first on an error at third base and advanced to second on the throw, allowing two runs to score and extend the Argos' advantage to 3-0.

UAH answered in the fifth inning when Allie Yeary singled down the left-field line to bring home Alyssa Butts, cutting the deficit to 3-1. However, the Chargers were unable to add another run over the final two innings.

The Chargers finished with five hits in the contest, with Jill Cockrell, Alexa Douthitt, Kylie Ballentine, Mia Brown and Yeary each recording a hit. Yeary drove in UAH's lone run.

In the circle, Katie Bracken pitched a complete game for the Chargers, allowing four hits and three runs, while striking out four across six innings.

UAH will return to action next weekend with a Gulf South Conference road series against Auburn Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama. The Chargers will open the series with a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 2 p.m., before concluding the series on Saturday with a noon first pitch.
