Softball Drops Saturday Contest Against No. 6 AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The UAH softball team wrapped up a three-game Gulf South Conference series on the road against No. 6 Auburn Montgomery on Saturday afternoon and fell to the Warhawks 5-1.

UAH dropped to 21-13 (7-8 GSC) with the loss, while AUM improved to 26-4 (11-4 GSC).

The Chargers and Warhawks were locked even at 0-0 for the first three innings before UAH got on the board first with a RBI from Hannah Temple that drove in Brittany Slaten. UAH would hold a 1-0 lead through the fifth inning, but AUM would strike for all five of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Jill Cockrell, Mia Brown, and Kylie Ballentine would record hits for the Chargers in the game, with Cockrell recording two stolen bases.

Megan Shurtz pitched six complete innings for UAH as she surrendered just one earned run on four hits. Shurtz also struck out four Warhawk batters.

Next up for UAH is a home series against Delta State beginning on Friday, March 27 at Les Steudeman Field in Charger Park.
