OXFORD, Ala. | The UAH softball team fell 9-5 to Auburn Montgomery on Wednesday morning at Choccolocco Park in Gulf South Conference Tournament action.

AUM took an early lead with a five-run second inning, capitalizing on timely hits and defensive miscues to go in front 5-0. The Warhawks added another run in the third to extend the lead to 6-0.

UAH responded in the top of the third inning, plating three runs to cut into the deficit. Brittany Slaten delivered a two-RBI double to left field, and Alexa Douthitt followed with an RBI double to bring the Chargers within 6-3.

AUM answered with a run in the bottom of the third and two more in the fourth inning to push its advantage to 8-3. The Chargers continued to battle, as Jill Cockrell sparked the offense in the fifth inning with an inside-the-park two-run home run, cutting the deficit to 8-5.

The Warhawks added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it 9-5, and held UAH scoreless over the final two innings to secure the victory.
