LOCATION:
Sharon Johnston Park located 18 miles northeast of the UAH campus.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The 8k course has two loops with 95% on grass, some dirt, and a couple of road crossings. The 5k course has similar components with one large loop and a small finish loop. Great course with rolling hills, and very good for spectators.
ENTRIES:
Entry deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 5:00 p.m. Please send your entry roster by email to
caind@uah.edu or by fax to 256-824-7306. Entry fees are $100 for each team or $200 for both men and women with unlimited entries. If fewer than 7 athletes, pay $15 per athlete. Registration and payment for the open 5k may be completed on race day by 7:40 a.m. The entry fee is $15.
AWARDS:
Team trophies to the top three teams.
T-shirts will be given to the top 15 finishers in the college races and to the top 10 men and women finishers in the open race.
College awards ceremony will begin around 10:30 AM.
This meet serve as the Pre-South Region meet, as we will be hosting the NCAA Division II South Region Cross Country Championship on Nov. 3. We anticipate between 14-20 schools. We usually have mostly Division II and III schools participate, a few DI schools, and some junior colleges. This course was the site for the NCAA Division II South Regional in 2007 and 2010.
Your team may view and jog the course on Friday, Sept. 7 from 2:00 to 6:30 p.m. There will be course maps available.
