The Sports Information Department (SID) connects the Athletic Department with the media and the public. Cooperation from the student-athletes is essential.
Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA/Buckley Amendment), student-athletes are asked to complete and sign a personal information form and a release form. In signing these forms, the student-athlete consents to the dissemination of personal information for the purposes of public relations and press releases to the media. Student-athlete may also be asked to speak with the media, various civic groups, etc. These opportunities aid the department in the areas of public relations and community support.
The Sports Information Department is responsible for all official statistics in each of the Charger sports. In addition, the SID office generates departmental publications and event programs. The office also maintains all records and archive information, along with maintaining the vast UAH Athletics website.
The Sports Information office works in conjunction with the coaching staff to nominate deserving athletes for various conference, regional, and national awards.
