UAH Athletics

OFFICIAL SITE OF THE UAH CHARGERS

Travel

Student-athletes traveling under the sponsorship of the University may receive cash allowances for meals or they may eat as a team as required through arrangements of the coaching staff.  For cash allowances, each athlete is responsible for the per diem paid to him/her for meals and will receive cash upon signing a Sponsored Group Travel Voucher.

Student-athletes are responsible for conducting themselves and dressing in an appropriate manner at all times during travel.  They are responsible for personal telephone calls in hotels and on the road and care of their equipment.

UAH Athletics follow the same missed class policies as stated in this handbook.  The Director of Athletics may issue you an absence notice, if requested through your coach, to be presented to your professors stating the dates and times you will miss class for athletic competitions.  You may not miss class to prepare for a later departure time nor for practice.  Student-athletes are required to make up all study on road trips. If requested, and if possible, coaches will make arrangements for student-athletes to study at libraries away from institutions.

Your personal health and safety during travel is very important.  You must abide by all team rules and remain with the team at all times, except under special circumstances approved by the coach.

Ineligible student-athletes may never travel with the team.

Team Travel Guidelines:

  1. The travel party (coaches, staff, and athletes) is expected to dress and conduct itself in a manner representative of UAH at all times.

  2. Student-athletes declared ineligible-not in good academic standing-are not allowed to travel as representatives of the Athletic Department.

  3. It is the responsibility of each coach to determine his/her travel squad size, up to the approved conference or institutional limit.  The squad size should only include student-athletes eligible to travel, coaches, athletics training staff, and other departmental staff as warranted.
