University Housing

Living in University Housing provides the student-athlete with significant opportunities to succeed in college. It increases opportunities for their involvement in campus life and it increases retention rates for all students. Research has consistently shown that students who live in residence halls have more contact with faculty, they interact more with student peers, they do better academically, and they feel more satisfaction with their undergraduate experience. There are no “athlete-only” housing facilities.

University Housing promotes an atmosphere of learning and supports the educational goals of the University. It seeks to provide the best possible housing at the cost that students can afford. It strives to provide an environment that promotes and reflects responsible citizenship, understanding of individuals’ differences, and a genuine concern for others. On campus housing provides an environment that contributes to student growth and development.

The housing staff promotes active student involvement in hall governance and in various programs and events. Student Resident Assistants are specially trained to help with academic, personal, and interpersonal problems and they can be a valuable resource for the student-athlete.

Student-athletes residing on campus follow the same housing policies as non-athletes. It is the responsibility of the student-athlete to be familiar with the terms of the Student Room Contract and with the Residents’ Handbook. They should also pay close attention to their UAH email, notices, and other periodic communications, as they may include important announcements and deadlines.

Specific roommates or suite-mates may be requested on the Housing Application.

Whenever problems arise with housing assignments, charges, or procedures, contact your Resident Director. University Housing wants to work with the student-athlete to help them have a great experience!
