UAH follows NCAA and conference bylaws regarding amateurism. Many amateurism rules are found in bylaws 12 and 14 of the NCAA manual.
NCAA Bylaw 12.01 states only amateur student athletes are eligible for intercollegiate athletic participation in a particular sport. If there is an alleged violation, see how to report a violation in Section I Rules Compliance.
1. NCAA Eligibility Center Certification - No prospective student athlete will be added to the eligibility list without amateurism certification from the NCAA Eligibility Center. If there is a time lapse between certification and enrollment in any NCAA institution, the PSA will be required to update their amateurism information in the EC and request an update. If the NCAA EC requires a matriculation certification, the UAH registrar will complete the form to be turned in. The registrar will use official documents to determine first time enrollment. See Section III on Eligibility.
2. Employment- An employment questionnaire will be sent out during the first semester of the academic year and prior to the summer.

Compliance will send out the forms to student athletes through JumpForward, and review them for NCAA rules compliance.
3. Use of Agents- Use of agents is prohibited. Compliance will have a representative on the Alabama Athlete Agent Commission that meets four times a year at the Alabama State House. The Alabama Secretary of State if the chairman of the committee. The Director of Athletic Compliance will represent UAH.

UAH representative attends four quarterly meetings as time allowed.

UAH representative stays informed on the latest issues with the commission and how it affects NCAA athletics in the state of Alabama.

4. Promotional Activities- DI student athletes are not allowed to participate in promotional activities without following NCAA Bylaw 12.5. Monitoring forms for 12.5 Promotional Activities are located on JumpForward.Â
In regards to adherence to NCAA Bylaw 12.5.1, for DI, all institutional, charitable, educational or non-profit appearances by student athletes must meet standards set forth in this by-law. Three approval sheets are available to meet these standards, depending on the type of appearance made by the student athlete. The approval forms are available on JumpForward and must be turned in to the compliance office and approved prior to appearances. The coaches are responsible for completing these forms and turning them in at least a week prior to the event.
- Promotional Representative Form – to be signed by a representative from institutional, charitable, educational or non-profit entity
- SA Release Form – to be signed by the participant student athlete(s)
Steps to take-

Coach or staff member secures appropriate signatures as outlined on the forms for the organization and the student athlete

All signed forms are to be turned in to DoAC prior to the event, and preferably several weeks in advance, through JumpFoward for the student athlete.

The DoAC will review forms, approve and log. If any of the forms are unable to be approved, the DoAC will communicate with the coach, make changes, or the participation in the event will be cancelled on the end of UAH.

 If the event is approved or not approved, the DoAC will sign the form in JumpForward.
