Gavin Morgan

Gavin Morgan is entering his ninth season as assistant coach of the UAH hockey program in 2018-19, helping lead the team in a new era of hockey entering the WCHA in 2013-14.

Following an 11-year professional playing career, Morgan joined the Chargers staff in the summer of 2010 to work with the UAH forwards and special team's units.

Known for his hard work and leadership, Morgan worked his way up the professional leagues, starting in the WCHL with the Idaho Steelheads and making his NHL Debut in 2003 with the Dallas Stars.  After being under contract with the Dallas Stars organization for four years, Morgan played for the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, Chicago Blackhawks, and Phoenix Coyotes organizations.  

Additionally, Morgan travelled overseas to play in Switzerland, Austria and the Norwegian Elite League where he was part of the 08-09 Championship team.  For his strong commitment to communities and charitable organizations, Morgan was twice named the AHL “Man of the Year”.

A graduate of the University of Denver, Morgan played from 1996 to 1999 as a Denver Pioneer under the coaching of George Gwozdecky.  While at DU, he earned WCHA All Academic Honors, was named to the Denver Cup All-Tournament Team, advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 1997 and 1999 and was part of the 1999 WCHA Championship Team.

A native of East York, Ontario,  Morgan and his wife Chrystal live in Madison along with their three children Ashley, Tanner and Brooklynn.
