Jeff Kinard is the Director of Sports Medicine at SportsMED Orthopaedic Surgery and Spine Center.  He has also served as the head athletic trainer for Charger Athletics since 1994.  In addition, he serves as an adjunct professor in the Kinesiology Department, having taught various subjects including Sports Medicine, First Aid & CPR, Sports Nutrition, Speed and Plyometrics, and Principles of Coaching.  From 1994 to 2006 he worked with the UAB Medical School Family Practice Residency Program helping with residents and fellows training in primary care sports medicine.
 
Kinard received his Bachelor of Science degree in sports medicine from Brigham Young University in April 1994 followed by a Master’s of Public Health degree from the University of Utah in June 1997.  Jeff also earned his certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in June 1994.
 
A Queens, New York, native who grew up in Fruit Heights, Utah, a suburb north of Salt Lake City, Kinard was a standout on the Davis High football, basketball, and track teams, earning all-state honors in track and football.
 
Kinard’s experience as an athletic trainer includes little leagues, junior and senior high schools, college/university and professional athletics, serving as an intern for the Dallas Cowboys in 1993. He has also worked each summer since 1996 as part of a wellness team with the NFL Referees Association as well as football officials from the Mountain West, Western Athletic, Conference USA, Southland, Big 12, and ACC conferences.
 
Jeff and his wife Jennifer are the proud parents of three children, Bailey, Kelly, and Jonathon and reside in Huntsville.
