Stephen Grooms

Stephen Grooms is in his second year as an assistant coach with the Chargers.

During his first year at UAH, Grooms helped guide the squad to a third-place finish in the Gulf South Conference en route to a berth in the GSC Tournament. The squad featured five All-GSC selections along with four all-region honorees.

Also working with the Huntsville Futbol Club, Grooms is the technical director for young players in the club as he leads the effort to develop the technical aspect of soccer to the youngest players. Prior to his time with HFC, he worked with Capital City Streaks in Montgomery. There he assisted in coaching multiple teams throughout the club.

Other experience for Grooms includes assisting with the Region 3 Olympic Development Program during the 2012 summer, helping pick the region's top players for participation on their respective age group's ODP teams, and he is a member of the Alabama ODP staff.

Grooms played one season at UAB before transferring to Auburn University at Montgomery. During his three seasons at AUM, the Senators never fell out of the NAIA’s top 25 and the program was ranked No. 1 in the nation for several weeks during the 2008 season.

He holds a National D Coaching License from USSF along with a National Youth License, and Grooms has also received his Goalkeeper Level 1 Diploma from the NSCAA.
