Penn Garvich joined the UAH Department of Athletics as Deputy Athletic Director on Oct. 4, 2024. Garvich serves as the primary external relations contact for UAH Athletics, while also helping lead the day-to-day administrative efforts for the Chargers.

Garvich comes to the Chargers after most recently working as the Director for Marketing Communications and Brand Engagement at Radiance Technologies in Huntsville, where he was instrumental in managing the sponsorship of the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl.

A member of the Huntsville community since 2019, Garvich previously oversaw the Korn Ferry Tour’s Huntsville Championship as a member of Knight Eady from 2019-22. He led the day-to-day efforts and developed the full operational plan for the tournament, while also establishing a volunteer program with over 450 volunteers.

He has previously had extensive experience in professional golf, managing the corporate sponsorship efforts for the Valero Texas Open from 2016-19 in addition to working with PGA of America from 2013-16 on the 41st Ryder Cup as well as the 96th PGA Championship.

Prior to starting with PGA of America, Garvich served in the United States Army from 2006-12 as an Army Officer in the Field Artillery branch where he also served in various key staff and command positions in the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and the 2nd Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea.

Prior to joining the military, Garvich was a member of the Furman University football team from 2003-05, where he helped the squad to the Division I-AA national semifinals in 2005. While at Furman, Garvich earned an ROTC scholarship from 2004-06 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health and exercise science in 2006.

He additionally holds a Master of Science degree in sport administration from the University of Louisville, where he graduated in 2012.

Penn and his wife, Marissa, reside in Huntsville with their three children --Â Emma (8), Hannah (6) and William (1).
