PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UAH volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of conference-leading West Florida on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Lady Chargers to 6-11 (2-3 Gulf South Conference) on the season while UWF improves to 10-7 (5-0 GSC).
The loss marks just the third time UAH has fallen in straight sets this season.
Controlling play from the very start, the Argos roared out to a 25-8 first set win followed by a 25-12 triumph in the second set. The Lady Chargers valiantly fought in the third set, keeping it close before falling 25-21 to finish out the match.
Kelsey Williams led the way for the Blue and White on the day as she tallied seven kills to help the team tally 26 on the day. The opposition registered 39.
Defensively
Ashton Baker scooped out six digs to pace the squad as UWF outdug the Lady Chargers 40-31 for the contest. UAH was limited to just one block on the afternoon while the Argos blocked six total attempts by the visitors.
For the contest, UWF outhit the Lady Chargers by a .366 to .056 margin.
UAH will return to action on Tuesday as it continues GSC play on the road at rival North Alabama. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
