UAH Readies For Christian Brothers At GSC Tournament

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – For the first time since 2005, the University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team will compete in the Gulf South Conference Tournament, hosted by the University of West Florida at the UWF Field House. The sixth-seeded Lady Chargers (9-24) will face No. 3-seeded Christian Brothers (24-9) in Pensacola, Fla. on Friday, Nov. 11, at 2:30 p.m. (CST).

The winner of the contest between UAH and Christian Brothers will face No. 2 seed North Alabama in the semifinal at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening. The final will be played on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m.

Christian Brothers dropped the Lady Chargers in both meetings this season, defeating UAH by scores of 3-2 in Memphis and 3-0 in Huntsville. Historically, UAH owns a 22-12 advantage over the Lady Bucs in the all-time series. However, UAH has not beaten Christian Brothers since 2007 and will be looking to snap a five-match losing streak to the Lady Bucs.

UAH enters the tournament on a five-match losing streak, including a heartbreaking 3-2 loss after being up 2-0 to Alabama A&M to end the regular season. Christian Brothers comes into the match after closing out its regular season with a victory over UAH on Nov. 5. Prior to the UAH meeting, however, the Lady Bucs had dropped two consecutive matches.

Senior Jessica Ruple, recently named All-GSC First Team, will lead the UAH squad into the postseason. Ruple ranks eighth in the conference in kills per game with 2.89, while leading the team with 371 total kills on the year and ranking second with 353 digs.

All matches will be streamed live on the internet at no charge to the viewer. The broadcast can be accessed at www.GoArgos.com.
