PENSACOLA, Fla. – Hours after upsetting No. 3 seed Christian Brothers, the No. 6 seed University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team (10-25) fell, 3-0 (21-25, 15-25, 15-25), to No. 2 seed North Alabama (24-8) in the semifinal of the Gulf South Conference Volleyball Tournament on Friday at the UWF Field House.

With the loss, the Lady Chargers 2011 campaign comes to a close with a record of 10-25 overall and 4-10 in league play.

UAH was leading 18-15 late in the first set, but gave up six of the next nine points to the Lions and trailed 21-20. From there, UNA was able to extend its lead en route to a 25-21 victory over the Lady Chargers.

In the second set, UNA jumped out early to a 9-2 advantage. UAH could only manage to close the gap to five with the score at 17-12 in UNA's favor, but the Lions eventually went on to win the game 25-15.

The Lady Chargers kept pace with UNA early in the third game, trailing as close as 9-7 in the set. Unfortunately, the Lions pulled away quickly, using a 6-0 run to extend the lead to 15-7 and all but putting away UAH for the match. The Lions won the match-clincher, 25-15.

For the match, UAH was only able to post a .083 hitting percentage while UNA hit at a .250 clip on the night. Senior Kaeli McCaghren led the Lady Chargers defensively on the night with 10 digs, while fellow classmate Jessica Ruple led the team with eight kills.
