HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAH volleyball team hits the road Saturday, traveling to Montevallo to face the Falcons and Augusta State in a tri-match. The contest against Augusta State is slated to start at 4 p.m. with the Lady Chargers taking on Montevallo at 6 p.m.
UAH (3-7) will be looking to snap a three-game slide that started last weekend at the Country Inn and Suites Invitational hosted by the Blue and White. The Lady Chargers began the weekend by defeating Henderson State 3-1 and D.C. 3-0 but then fell in a tough five-setter to Harding before falling to Christian Brothers and Arkansas Tech.
On the season the Lady Chargers are being led offensively by Jessica Rupple who has racked up 115 kills while she is also second on the team with 90 digs.
Kaeli McCaghren paces the squad as she has dug out 112 balls on the year.
Up front, the trio of
Stacey Sargent,
Angela Thurmond, and
Kelsey Williams has the team-highs in blocks, recording a total of 22, 21, and 19, respectively.
Kelly Wilson has amassed 279 assists on the season to lead in that category.
In the all-time series, the Lady Chargers hold a 20-15 advantage over Montevallo with the last meeting coming a season ago as the Blue and White swept aside Saturday's hosts 3-0. With Augusta State, the series is tied 1-1 with UAH's win coming last year, also a 3-0 victory.
Augusta State enters the weekend with a4-6 record, while the Falcons are 3-6 after snapping a four-match losing streak with a 3-1 victory over King on Sept. 10. The Jaguars also won their last time out, a 3-2 win over Lander.
