HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team (13-3, 4-1 GSC) will look to extend its perfect home record of 8-0 this season as the squad hosts Christian Brothers (5-12, 2-3 GSC) in a Gulf South Conference matchup on Sunday. Tipoff from Spragins Hall is slated for 2 p.m. CST. For this game only, entry for fans is FREE with a church bulletin.

The Lady Chargers' will also be looking to avoid their first back-to-back losses of the year after dropping a 92-74 decision to Delta State in their outing. Despite falling on the road to the Lady Statesmen, UAH poured in the most points DSU has allowed this season. Both DSU and UAH lead the conference standings with league records of 4-1 thus far in the year.

UAH continues to be led by the sophomore duo of Jordan Smith and Jasmine Hammon as they are averaging 17.4 and 17.1 points per game, respectively. Juniors Bailee Robinson and Natalie Kelley have also emerged as leaders on the hardwood for the Lady Chargers. Robinson is scoring an average of 11.3 points per contest while Kelley is flirting with a double-double on a nightly basis, posting 8.6 points and 8.4 rebounds on average per game.

Should UAH extend its home winning streak to nine games, it would not only keep the Lady Chargers undefeated this season at home but also match the best start at home since the 1982-83 season. That is the only other time a UAH women's basketball team has been 9-0 at home during a single season.

Christian Brothers enters the contest after dropping four of its previous six contests. CBU will be looking to stay undefeated against the state of Alabama this season, however, having already defeated West Alabama, 50-49, and North Alabama, 51-42. The Lady Bucs are paced in scoring by Jasmine Ellis who is averaging 9.9 points per game. Ellis also leads the team on the glass, nearly averaging a double-double with 8.8 rebounds per game.

Historically, the CBU own a slim 9-6 advantage over UAH, including defeating the Lady Chargers in seven of the last eight meetings. In the last contest between the two schools, UAH earned an 82-74 victory in Huntsville on Nov. 29, 2010. The Lady Bucs last win in Huntsville came on Jan. 5, 2010 by a score of 79-68.

For Sunday's contest, head coach Roy Heintz will be coaching barefoot to raise awareness of his goal to raise $10,000 for Samaritan's Feet. Samaritan's Feet serves the impoverished in over 62 countries worldwide and has placed new shoes on the feet of more than 3.5 million children. Should Heintz reach his goal of $10,000, Samaritan's Feet will be able to provide 1,000 impoverished children with a new pair of shoes and socks.
