Lady Chargers Host Two GSC Matches this Weekend

Valdosta State: LIVE STATS
West Florida: LIVE STATS | LIVE VIDEO

The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team welcomes in Valdosta State and West Florida this weekend for a pair of Gulf South Conference games.

The Lady Chargers (9-11, 3-5 GSC) have slipped a bit as of late, losing four straight matches. They will look to get back on track with back-to-back home games scheduled this weekend.

On Friday UAH will play host to Valdosta State (11-6, 4-4 GSC), a team that beat them 3-0 in Valdosta earlier this season.

The Blazers have won three of their last four and currently hold a 3-4 record away from home. After starting the season a perfect 5-0, Valdosta State has gone just 6-6 since then.

This match will also be the seventh consecutive road game, as they have not played at home since September 15. The Lady Chargers hold the all-time record against VSU, having a 23-13 advantage.

This Sunday the West Florida Argonauts (11-6, 7-1 GSC) come to Huntsville, also a team that defeated UAH 3-0 earlier in the season.

The Argos currently sit at first place in the league, a game ahead of both Shorter and Christian Brothers. They have won their last five matches and eight of their last nine.

West Florida has dominated the series as of late and holds a 16-7 advantage over UAH.

It will be a difficult weekend for the Lady Chargers in terms of the strength in their opponents, but it is also a golden opportunity to bounce back and pick up some confidence heading down the stretch of the season.

First serve will be 7:00 p.m. on Friday against Valdosta State and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday versus West Florida.
