The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team travels to Livingston, Alabama, on Saturday, looking to take down West Alabama for the second time this season in Gulf South Conference action.
The Lady Chargers defeated the Tigers in Huntsville on September 22 in five sets, 3-2. In what was the most exciting home match of the season for UAH, as they stormed back from down 0-2 to take the final three sets and earn the tough home victory.
In that match, UAH was dominated in the first two sets, but showed strong resiliency to come back in front of the University faithful.
It has been tough sledding for the Lady Chargers of late however; they have dropped seven of their past eight matches, which included three GSC matches. UAH defeated Valdosta State at home on October 12, which is the lone win in that difficult stretch.
The remaining schedule is favorable for UAH though, as they will play four of their final six matches at home after Saturday's match at West Alabama.
The going has been even harder on West Alabama, who sits at 10-14 and 2-9 in conference. After starting 9-3, the Tigers have now lost 11 of their last 12. They host Shorter tonight in Livingston.
UAH is catching West Alabama at the right time and will look to right the ship and pick up their fifth GSC win of the season.
First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Next Tuesday, October 30, will be UAH volleyball's annual Halloween Game. The Lady Chargers will also recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Spragins Hall. Fans are encouraged to dress up or wear pink for this special occasion. There will also be a drawing for a TV for those who show their strong support.
Fans are encouraged to follow the Chargers on Facebook (facebook.com/uahchargers) and on Twitter (@uahchargers), and supporters of the Blue and White may sign up for text and e-mail updates at uahchargers.com.
