Halloween & Cancer Awareness Night on Tuesday

LIVE STATS | LIVE VIDEO
The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team is set to host their annual Halloween Night as well as Cancer Awareness Night on Tuesday, October 30, when they take on West Georgia in crucial GSC action.

Fans are encouraged to wear their best Halloween costume or wear pink in support of the Breast Cancer Awareness cause. Donations will also be accepted and will go towards the Liz Hurley Fund of Breast Cancer Awareness; those individuals who make a donation will be entered into a random drawing to win a flat-screen TV.

The UAH athletic teams will also participate in the festivities, as there will be a costume contest as to what Chargers' athletic team dresses up the best.

As for the volleyball match to be played, the Lady Chargers (10-15, 4-7 GSC) will look to right the ship and get back on track against a West Georgia (11-14, 6-6 GSC) squad they lost to in Carrollton, Georgia, earlier this year.

UAH has dropped eight of their last nine, including a 3-1 loss to West Alabama on Saturday. The good news for the Lady Chargers is they finally get to return home to Spragins Hall, a place where they hold a 7-2 record.

They are 3-1 in GSC matches inside Spragins, with their only loss coming to a ranked West Florida team.

West Georgia defeated West Alabama on Sunday in five sets, but had lost five straight prior to that victory.

With six teams heading to the Gulf South Conference Tournament, UAH sits in the sixth spot right now, holding a one-game advantage over West Alabama. Shorter, who is currently third, is not eligible for the postseason.

Including Tuesday's match, the Lady Chargers have four GSC matches remaining, and they are all at home. West Alabama only has two GSC matches to play; those are against No. 20 West Florida and Valdosta State.

Fans are encouraged to follow the Chargers on Facebook (facebook.com/uahchargers) and on Twitter (@uahchargers), and supporters of the Blue and White may sign up for text and e-mail updates at uahchargers.com.

The push for the GSC Tournament starts on Tuesday for the Lady Chargers. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
