Lady Chargers Blocked by West Georgia, Fall 3-0

Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lady Chargers celebrated their annual Breast Cancer Awareness and Halloween Night on Tuesday, where they fell 3-0 to West Georgia in Gulf South Conference play.

UAH (10-16, 4-8 GSC) battled the visiting Wolves (12-14, 7-6 GSC) tough in two of the three sets, falling 25-21 in the first and 26-24 in the second.

Plenty of UAH fans were in attendance, wearing their best Halloween costume, while others were sporting their pink in support of a good cause. Fans donated money and competed in a best-dressed contest, as lucky winners took home prizes from a flat screen TV to free pizza from Domino's.

The first set of the night was back-and-forth after West Georgia jumped out to a 3-0 lead. The Lady Chargers battled the Wolves to a 19-19 tie, but then allowed the visitors to take the next four points and the 23-19 lead. Coupled by UAH errors, West Georgia also made key plays down the stretch to take the first set.

The Lady Chargers had the second set in their grasps with a late 24-22 lead, but allowed West Georgia to take four straight points and the 26-24 victory to go down 0-2 in the match.

The third set belonged entirely to West Georgia, as they shot out to a 20-9 lead and never looked back. They would take the set and the match 25-13.

UAH was led by Kendall Knisley who recorded eight kills and a block, and Haley Snyder with seven kills of her own. Senior Kelsey Williams racked up five kills and a team-high five blocks.

Stacey Sargent and Olivia Bauman also chipped in five kills apiece.

West Georgia received 12 kills from both Emily Reul and Lesley Bemis. Bemis also had a game-high seven blocks.

The Lady Chargers will look to get back on track this weekend when they travel up the road to Florence, Alabama, to take on North Alabama and Palm Beach Atlantic. UAH will play UNA on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and PBA at 3:30 p.m. in Florence on Saturday.
