Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Lady Chargers came up short on the road Tuesday evening, falling to West Georgia 3-1 in GSC action.
UAH (9-11, 3-5 GSC) dropped the first two sets to start the match and after taking the third from the host Wolves (9-8, 4-4 GSC), they came up short in a bid for the comeback.
The Lady Chargers had the first set there for the taking when they held a late-lead at 20-19, but West Georgia responded by winning the next three points to go up 22-20. The Wolves would go on to take the set 25-23.
The story was the same in set number two, as the two teams were all tied at 16-16. This time the Wolves won nine of the final 11 points scored to run away with a 25-18 set victory.
Trailing zero sets to one to start the third set, UAH was looking to mount a comeback much like they did a few weeks ago against West Alabama. This time UAH held a 20-18 lead and would not let it slip away. Taking advantage of attack errors and service errors by West Georgia, the Lady Chargers squeezed out a 25-23 win, forcing a fourth set.
The Lady Chargers bid for a comeback came up short as West Georgia cruised to a 25-14 set and match victory.
Kelsey Williams and
Angela Thurmond led the attack for UAH, recording a combined 27 kills between the two of them.
Erin Keeney and
Kendall Knisley also showed strong for the Lady Chargers, as Keeney notched eight kills and four blocks while Knisley had seven kills and four blocks.
UAH also had 13 service errors, disallowing themselves from potential points and giving a free 13 to West Georgia.
The Lady Chargers return home on Friday when they host Valdosta State. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
