Lady Chargers to Visit Florence for Pair of Matches

NORTH ALABAMA: LIVE STATS
PALM BEACH ATLANTIC: no live coverage

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team looks to pick up a much-needed victory this weekend when they travel to Florence, Alabama, to take on North Alabama on Friday and Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday.

Friday evening the Lady Chargers will play North Alabama (10-13, 6-6 GSC) in Gulf South Conference play, a team they defeated earlier in the season by a final of 3-1.

UAH (10-16, 4-8 GSC) has slipped up lately, dropping five straight matches and nine of 10 overall. They fell to West Georgia 3-0 on Tuesday night.

It will be the first game in the month of November for the Lady Chargers and hopefully that means good things to come. They will take on a Lions' team that has dropped two matches in a row and six straight sets overall.

UNA has historically dominated their rivals from Huntsville, but this year UAH got the best of North Alabama for the first time in 10-plus years. Now the Lady Chargers will look to go on the road and earn an ever-important sweep.

On Saturday the Lady Chargers will take on the No. 3 team in the South Region in Palm Beach Atlantic. The Sailfish (28-3) have been simply dominant this season. In fact, they are 18-1 in the region, with the only loss coming to the No. 1 team, the Tampa Spartans.

They come into this weekend having won five straight and will play a total of four matches this weekend against three GSC schools: UNA (twice), Christian Brothers and UAH.

UAH will have a challenging weekend on the road, but the match with UNA is a very important one. The Lady Chargers are trying to fend off West Alabama for the final spot in the GSC Tournament and need to hold their one-game advantage.

They play North Alabama at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Palm Beach Atlantic at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
