Lady Chargers Travel To Montevallo Wednesday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team is set for its first road trip of the season as the Lady Chargers (2-0) will travel to Montevallo (0-2) for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
 
The Blue and White was impressive at home this past weekend, defeating Benedict 74-52 and Tuskegee 73-49 at the Comfort Inn GSC/SIAC Challenge.
 
Leading the way for the Lady Chargers and earning Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honors in the process was Jordan Smith. The junior averaged 18.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 2.0 assists during the two-game stretch.
 
The team was tough defensively, allowing the two opponents to shoot a combined 25.8 percent from the floor and an impressively low 9.4 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Montevallo travelled to North Carolina to open the season and fell by a 69-58 score at Wingate while also dropping a 62-46 decision to Newberry. The squad is hitting only 32.5 percent of its shots, and Alexis Brown's 12.5 points per contest leads the way for the Falcons.
 
A year ago in Huntsville the Lady Chargers won a 77-67 decision.
