HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
A rematch of last season's Gulf South Conference Tournament championship game is on tap for Saturday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall as the University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team will host West Alabama at 6 p.m. The Lady Chargers currently boast a 4-2 (1-0 GSC) mark, and the Tigers are 3-3 (0-1 GSC).

UAH erased a 16-point deficit and held West Georgia scoreless for the final four minutes of the game en route to picking up a key 58-53 victory on Thursday in the Gulf South Conference opener for both teams. GSC play opened for the Lady Chargers with high expectations as the squad was picked by the conference's head coaches to take home the 2012-13 title.

Jasmine Hammon scored a season-best 27 points in the victory, including 16 in the second half to help spark the comeback. In just 27.5 minutes per contest, the Muscle Shoals, Ala., native is leading the Blue and White with 19.5 points per game.

This contest features the two most explosive offensive players in the league as West Alabama's Brittany Weathers is leading the conference with 21.7 points per contest while Hammon sits in second with 19.5 points per game. As a team, UAH is second with a scoring average of 70.7, and UWA sits in fourth as the Tigers average 64.6 points a game.

The Lady Chargers won two of the three meetings last year between the two programs, but West Alabama won the big one - knocking off UAH in the Gulf South Conference Tournament final.

UWA fell on Thursday night in its league opener, dropping a 56-53 decision at Shorter. Weathers was strong in the contest as she scored 22 and collected 10 rebounds to lead a trio of Tigers who scored in double figures.

Since starting the year 3-0, UWA is just 1-3 in its last four games.
