NICEVILLE, Fla. – After picking up its first-ever GSC Tournament victory on Thursday with a tip-in in the winding seconds, the second-seeded University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team (22-5) returns to The Arena where the squad will face rival and sixth-seeded North Alabama in the semifinals on Saturday, March 3. Tipoff is slated for 2:45 p.m. CST and will be broadcast on 97.7 FM The Zone.

UNA enters the semifinals much like the Lady Chargers find themselves just one game away from the championship game. The Lions upset third-seeded Valdosta State in its first round contest by a score of 50-48, as Dana Jackson hit a layup with less than one second remaining.

The Lady Chargers also won their opening round game in the final second. Junior Natalie Kelley tipped-in the winning bucket for UAH with one second on the clock to defeat West Georgia, 59-57.

While UAH is making its first-ever GSC semifinal appearance, UNA is returning to the semis for the seventh time in its history, though for the first time since the 2002-03 season when the Lions fell to Arkansas Tech, 62-45. UNA is 2-4 all-time in GSC semifinal games, and won the GSC Tournament in 1984-85.

Saturday's game will be the third between the two teams this season and 69th overall. UNA has won eight of the previous 10 meetings in the series, and the team's split this season, with each team grabbing a win on the other's home floor.

In the season's first meeting, which took place on Jan. 28, UAH came away with a 60-44 victory in Florence while leading the Lions by at least 20 points in the second half. The Lady Chargers were led by sophomore Jordan Smith with a game-high 14 points, while sophomore Jasmine Hammon and junior Morgan Duncan added 12 points and 10 points, respectively.

In the most recent meeting on Feb. 25, UNA picked up its only GSC road victory of the year while handing UAH its only home loss of the season by a score of 81-77.

This matchup pits two of the top three scoring offenses in the GSC as the Lady Chargers lead the league with 78.6 points per game and the Lions rank third with 61.8 points per outing.

Should UAH defeat North Alabama in the semifinals, the Lady Chargers would face the winner of the Delta State versus West Alabama game in the championship. The GSC Championship game will be played on Sunday, March 4, at 11 a.m. CST.

Saturday's semifinals will be streamed LIVE on the internet by PSBLive. The championship game will be broadcast LIVE by Mediacom, Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) and ESPN3/ESPN Full Court.
