Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. – Kyle Simmons scored twice but the University of Alabama in Huntsville soccer team fell by a 6-2 score at Union on Monday night. The Bulldogs improve to 3-2-2 (2-1-1 Gulf South Conference),while the Chargers drop to 1-7 (0-4 GSC).
After the team fell behind just two minutes into the contest, Simmons quickly pulled the Chargers into a 1-1 tie when he rocketed one with authority off the iron and into the goal for his third goal of the season.
Simmons added another tally in the 75th minute as he took a nice pass from
Ragnar Leosson and booted one from the left side to the far post past the Union keeper Matt Kesler.
The two scores pull the sophomore from Huntsville even with Leosson for the team lead in scoring as both have four goals and an assist for nine points. The performance marks the fourth time in his career that Simmons has scored at least twice or more in a game.
Ultimately, however, the Bulldogs were too much for the visitors as they scored four times in the first half and twice in the second 45 minutes for the victory.
Union outshot the Chargers 16-9 while also holding a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal.
UAH will return to action on Friday when they host West Florida at 3:30 p.m.
