Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Lady Chargers came up short on Friday night, falling on the road to Christian Brothers, 3-1, in Gulf South Conference action.
UAH (7-7, 1-3 GSC) took the first set from the hosts, but then Christian Brothers (9-3, 4-0 GSC) caught fire and rattled off three straight to earn the 3-1 conference victory.
The Lady Chargers actually trailed CBU 20-17 late in the first set before taking the next six points and the 23-20 lead. They would go on to win the set by a final score of 25-22.
UAH then fell behind early in the second set and could never recover. Falling behind 9-3, they couldn't muster any rallies from the Bucs and fell 25-17 in set number two.
In the third set, the score was tied early on at 5-5. That would be the closest that set would show, as CBU went on to take 20 of the next 30 points scored and came away with the 25-15 third set victory.
Hoping to extend the match to a fifth set, UAH came up short in their bid as they were unable to get anything consistent going. They went down 25-19 and were dealt their seventh loss of the season by a score of 25-19.
Leading the way for the Chargers was
Angela Thurmond who recorded a team-high 17 kills to go along with two blocks.
Senior
Kelsey Williams added 11 kills, while
Stacey Sargent picked up nine.
Kelly Wilson picked up 24 assists, while
Ashton Baker added 19 of her own.
Haley Snyder,
Kirsten Rousseau and
Kendall Knisley also contributed offensively for the Lady Chargers, but their combined attack was not enough to pick up the road victory.
Libero
Kennedie Lariscy recorded 16 digs to lead the team, while
Erin Keeney tallied six kills in the match.
UAH gets right back to action tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. when they take on Union University.
