Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team fell 3-0 to visiting Valdosta State on Friday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The loss drops the Lady Chargers to 7-15 (4-6 Gulf South Conference), while VSU improves to 15-8 (7-3 GSC).
The Lady Blazers out-hit the hosts in each frame en route to picking up set wins of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-23.
UAH's best effort came in the third stanza as the team hit at a .214 clip in a set that saw 14 ties and six lead changes. The Lady Chargers led 19-18 prior to a streak of five points for the visitors that saw VSU take a 23-19 lead. UAH would then pull to within 24-23 before surrendering the match point.
Defensively on the night, UAH was led by
Stacey Sargent who dug out 22 balls, while the Lady Charger attack was paced by
Kendall Knisley and
Olivia Bauman who both recorded nine kills.
Ashton Baker guided the way with 27 assists.
Jenna Kirkwood and Lelalelei Nomura paced Valdosta State with 14 and 11 kills, respectively, to help VSU register a .212 attack percentage while UAH hit at just a .130 clip.
The Lady Chargers will return to action on Saturday when West Georgia visits at 2 p.m.
