Lady Chargers defeat UWG in Straight Sets

Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The UAH volleyball team defeated West Georgia in straight sets on Saturday afternoon at Spragins Hall. The Lady Chargers improve to 8-15 (5-6 GSC) while the loss puts West Georgia at 11-10 (6-5 GSC).

Olivia Bauman paced UAH with 13 kills on the afternoon while Haley Snyder was not far behind, finishing the day with 12 kills. Kendall Knisley's 10 kills is the fourth time she has reached double-digit kills this season.

Junior Ashton Baker recorded her 14th double-double of the season, tallying a game-high 29 assists to go along with 13 digs. Senior Stacey Sargent led the way with 15 digs for the home team, including key saves in the third set to keep the rally going.

The Lady Chargers would go on to win the first two sets by 10. In the first set, UAH came out clicking on all cylinders to an 11-3 start.  Kennedie Lariscy and Sargent held serve for eight of the 11 points. Bauman contributed with three kills as well.

West Georgia would not get any closer than eight during the set as UAH capture the set 25-15.

The Lady Wolves had it tied 7-7 in the beginning of the second set. However, the Lady Chargers cruised the rest of the set, outscoring UWG 18-8 in the end to take the set 25-15.

UWG made things interesting the third and final set, leading by as much as 12-6 following a kill by Amanda Miles. After a UAH timeout, UAH ended the match outscoring UWG 19-10 the rest of the way.

The Wolves were led by a balanced attack during the match as three different players had at least five kills. Miller led UWG with 13 assists while Melissa Holt finished with 11 digs.

The Lady Chargers will return to action on Tuesday when they head on the road to Jackson, Tenn., for a GSC matchup against Union at 7 p.m.
