Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team fell 1-0 in overtime to visiting Lee on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park. The setback drops the Chargers to 9-6-1 (7-6-0 Gulf South Conference), while Lee moves to 8-3-4 (7-2-4 GSC).
Despite the loss, the Chargers kept pace with West Alabama as UAH will go into the final week of conference play just one point behind the Tigers who are currently in second among teams eligible for the postseason.
Reserve goalkeeper
Brent DeSilva was terrific in the contest as he recorded seven saves, and there was not much the sophomore could do on the game-winning tally by Arturo Rocha as Lee had a two-man breakaway that resulted in the score in the 95th minute.
Though the Flames dominated by owning a 14-6 advantage in shots and 11-0 margin in corners, the stat sheet was really not an indication of the contest as the hosts worked hard to maintain possession through much of the competition and featured several dangerous chances that just missed.
Kyle Simmons and
Nathan Strouth both recorded shots on frame in the contest for the Blue and White, and Simmons had another strong effort that was blocked by a Lee defender as he had half of the team's shots on the day.
Senior
Jason Ruzicka earned a spot in the starting 11 on the day, playing significant minutes at his final home game.
The Chargers will return to action on Friday when they travel to Union. Kick-off is slated for 6 p.m.
