Lady Chargers Roll Past Kentucky St., Ouachita Baptist

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team dominated its opponents on Saturday at Spragins Hall, defeating both Kentucky State and Ouachita Baptist by 3-0 scores to improve to 10-16 on the season. Kentucky State falls to 19-15, while Ouachita Baptist split the day to go to 13-10.
 
UAH will now hit the road for four Gulf South Conference matches, starting with a Tuesday visit to North Alabama which is slated to start at 7 p.m.
 
UAH 3, Kentucky State 0
 
The Lady Chargers started out the day strong, hitting as a team at a .417 clip in the first set en route to a dominating 25-13 victory.  UAH then would comfortably win 25-17 in the second before having to fend off a tremendous challenge from KSU in the third as UAH would win it in extra points 26-24.
 
Rachel Brugman was strong in the match as she registered nine kills and just one error on 20 total attacks for a .400 swing percentage, while Shelby Traff hit .368 in the contest while recording eight kills – a mark that was matched by Olivia Bauman.
 
Ashton Baker was solid in setting up the UAH attack, registering 28 assists, and she also added four kills and no errors while hitting .571. Baker also paced the team with three aces.
 
Defensively the Lady Chargers were paced by Stacey Sargent's 13 digs.
 
The visitors hit just .033 on the day as they committed 21 errors.
 
UAH 3, Ouachita Baptist 0
 
UAH defeated the Tigers with set scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-14, with UAH's best attacking set coming in the middle frame when the team committed just four errors while recording 17 kills for a hitting percentage of .371.
 
Leading the way for UAH was Oliva Bauman who had 13 kills to pace a trio that would finish the afternoon in double figures in kills. Rachel Brugman turned in another solid performance, hitting .417 with 12 kills and just two errors, and Haley Snyder had 10 successful attacks.
 
Two Lady Chargers recorded a double-double in the affair as Ashton Baker scooped out 17 balls to go along with 28 assists, and Alexis Deal recorded 13 digs and 13 helpers.
 
Kendall Knisley and Deal were both strong at the net, recording four and three blocks, respectively.
 
Recording five more digs, Stacey Sargent moved close to 400 for the season as she now totals 395.
