HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
Jasmine Hammon set the program record for most career rebounds, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team moves to 4-0 for just the third time in school history after a convincing 102-60 win over Tennessee Temple on Saturday afternoon at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The loss puts the Lady Crusaders at 0-5 on the year.

Hammon led the team with 17 points and seven rebounds, breaking the old rebounding record with her second of the day at the 13:59 mark of the first half. She passes Crystal Cooper who established the previous mark of 604 from 1984-86.

The senior guard now owns the career records for points, rebounds, free throws made and free throw attempts.

Joining Hammon in double figures were four other Lady Chargers as the squad reeled off its fourth straight game with over 100 points.

Shannon Steinert, Josi Saunders, and Dina Saunders all scored 15 on the evening, while Jordan Smith added 14 points and a season-high eight assists.

UAH dominated from start to finish as the team jumped out to an early 21-4 lead and never looked back, eventually building up a 54-25 advantage at the halftime break as the Lady Chargers held the visitors to a shooting percentage of just 31.3 percent in the period.

The second half was no different from the first as UAH forced TTU into 18 more turnovers.  The lead would stretch out to as many as 43 in the period, and the terrific UAH defensive effort would not allow the Lady Crusaders to pull any closer than 37.

Overall on the night, UAH forced 37 turnovers by the visitors and converted them into 42 points. Both Steinert and Smith recorded five steals on the night as Steinert has at least five takeaways in each of the team's first four contests.

The Lady Chargers held a 60-45 advantage on the glass, and the team's 37 offensive rebounds led to 26 second-chance points.

UAH will now turn its attention to Division I member Troy as the Lady Chargers will hit the road to face the Trojans on Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
