Women's Hoops Prepared To Host West Florida

LIVE STATS | LIVE AUDIO | LIVE VIDEO
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
Aiming to bounce back from the team's heartbreaking loss in the final second on Thursday night, the University of Alabama in Huntsville will host West Florida on Saturday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. Tip is scheduled for 5 p.m. between the Lady Chargers (9-13, 6-6 Gulf South Conference) and the Argos (5-15, 2-10 GSC).

With the tough setback to Valdosta State, the Lady Chargers have now lost eight games this season that were decided by five points or less, and Saturday's opponent was also on the losing side of a close ballgame in its last contest.

Since stringing together a pair of home wins against Delta State and Christian Brothers, the Argos have fallen in three straight including a 59-58 defeat at the hands of Shorter on the road on Thursday.

Hanna Vette paces the Argos with a scoring average of 15.0 points per game, and she is also strong on the glass as she grabs an average of 8.0 rebounds per contest.

In the earlier contest in Pensacola, Vette scored 21 to lead all scorers in the contest, but Jasmine Hammon scored 20 while Jordan Smith added 18 to help produce a 70-61 road victory for the Lady Chargers.

Hammon remains second in the conference in scoring with a nightly point average of 18.5, and she now needs just 77 points to become the all-time leading scorer in program history. With six contests remaining, Hammon needs to average just 12.8 points per game to breach the mark before the regular season comes to a close.

Live stats and video for the contest will be available at uahchargers.com, and the game will be carried locally in the Tennessee Valley on 97.7 The Zone.
