About the Lady Chargers

AVOIDING 0-4: The Lady Chargers came through in their final match of the weekend on Saturday, defeating Southern Arkansas in straight sets 3-0. UAH had lost their first three matches of the season and needed to avoid a winless trip to Arkansas, and that is just what the team did. SAU was no walkover either, as the Muleriders finished second in the Great American Conference a season ago.

PROBLEM SOLVING: Head Coach Keith Giboney shook up the lineup in the fourth match of the weekend on Saturday, starting two setters in Alexis Deal and Ashton Baker. It was the first time the two played together and it worked brilliantly. Setting up attackers Haley Snyder and Kendall Knisley, while Kennedie Lariscy and Stacey Sargent did the digging, the team looked the part of a hich-octane competitor. Expect Giboney to stick with what works in his first season at UAH.

SOPHOMORIC ATTACK: Snyder and Olivia Bauman, both sophomores, are leading the way offensively for UAH in 2013. The two have combined for 84 kills (Snyder-44, Bauman-40), giving the Blue and White a power presence at the net.

About the Opponent

TOUGH COMPETITION: Alabama A&M comes to Spragins Hall with an 0-6 record on the season, while facing some of the top competition around the country, such as No. 4 USC and Purdue from the Big Ten Conference. The Lady Bulldogs recently finished the University of Memphis Tournament over the weekend, falling to Memphis, Southeastern Louisiana and Western Carolina.

LEADING THE WAY: This season, the Lady Bulldogs are led by Leslie Ekpe and Kyanna Sales. Ekpe paces A&M in kills (36), blocks (10), while Sales is second in kills with (33) and services aces (3).

Series History

UAH boasts a 14-8 record against the cross-town rivals, who compete in the SWAC (NCAA Division I). A&M knocked off the Lady Chargers in straight sets last year in Normal.
