PHOTOSHUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team defeated visiting Hiwassee on Tuesday night, capturing a 68-45 win at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers improve to 3-2 on the season with the triumph.

Freshman
Loren Foster paced the Chargers on the evening, scoring 12 points on a 4-for-7 showing from the field while also grabbing four rebounds and picking up four blocks, and she was one of 10 players who scored points for the hosts.

UAH never trailed in the game, and the Chargers held the opposition to shoot below 10 percent for much of the opening 20 minutes en route to holding a 32-15 advantage at the halftime break. During the second half, UAH's lead would balloon to as many as 26 on the way to the 23-point margin at the game's conclusion.

The Chargers outrebounded the visitors by a 39-21 clip in the contest, and the team was led by
Shannon Steinert,
Halle Jarnagin and
Jasmyne Reeves who all collected six rebounds. UAH also continued its unselfish style of play offensively, dishing out 17 assists on 20 made buckets with Steinert pacing the team with four helpers.

For the contest, UAH shot 45.5 percent from the field while limiting Hiwassee to a shooting percentage of just 25.4 percent. The Chargers were also strong at the charity stripe as the team went 22-for-26 from the line led by
Taylor Kimber's 5-for-5 night.

The visiting Tigers we led by Takyah Gilmore who scored 19 while grabbing six boards.

UAH will now be off until next Monday, Dec. 1, when it wraps up non-conference play in Nashville at Trevecca Nazarene.
