Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 25 Upset on the Road by Trevecca Nazarene

NASHVILLE | The No. 25 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team picked up its first setback of the season on Monday night, falling on the road 77-64 to host Trevecca Nazarene. The Chargers slip to 5-1 with the setback, while TNU improves to 2-5.

The contest marked the final non-conference game of the season as UAH will open up Gulf South Conference action on Thursday night when West Florida visits. That contest is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.

UAH was led on the night by Ronnie Mack who went 6-for-13 from beyond the arc en route to scoring a team-best 19, and Preston Herring recorded his second consecutive double-double as he scored 11 and grabbed 14 rebounds. Seab Webster also scored in double figures, going 5-for-10 from the field while matching Herring's 11 points.

UAH held the early lead on this night, leading by as many as five just prior to the first media timeout of the game, but TNU closed the opening 20 minutes strong and held a 41-29 advantage at the haltime break.

The deficit for the Chargers would grow to as many as 20, and though UAH would narrow the gap at times during the second 20 minutes, the hosts were able to thwart any comeback effort.

TNU outshot the Chargers by a 43.5 percent to 39.6 percent margin on the night, and the hosts were led by Byron Sanford who paced a group of four players who scored in double figures as he scored 23 including a 10-for-11 at the free throw line.

Two areas particularly damaged UAH's chances on the night as the team was just 14-for-24 from the charity stripe, and the team turned the ball over 18 times leading to 22 points for the Trojans.
