RALLYING TO A WIN: The Chargers kicked off the GSC slate with a Tuesday matchup against Union, which ended in a five set win (24-26, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 16-14) despite being down two sets early in the match. Freshman Kirsten Giles posted the first double-double of her collegiate career with 16 digs and a team-high 36 assists.
 
OFFENSIVE CONSISTENCY: UAH ranks in the top three in the GSC in hitting percentage (.240), assists (245), and kills (269). Freshman Anna Claire Johnson has a team-high 61 kills while Rachel Brugman has tallied a team-best .320 hitting percentage amongst all players with 50 attempts or more. Senior Ashton Baker and Giles have combined for 206 assists, good for a 7.66 assists per set average.
 
FINISHING THE HOMESTAND: The Chargers matchups against West Florida and West Georgia will be the sixth and seventh contests, respectively, in the seven-game homestand to start the 2014 season. Following this weekend, UAH will head out on the road for matches at Christian Brothers (9/16), North Alabama (9/20) and Shorter (9/23).
 
ABOUT WEST FLORIDA: The No. 19 Argonauts come into the weekend with a 6-0 overall record after defeating Limestone and Montevallo earlier in the week. Friday's match will be UWF's first GSC contest of the season. On Monday, West Florida senior Autumn Duyn was named GSC Offensive Player of the Week.
 
ABOUT WEST GEORGIA: The Wolves head into this weekend's match with a 2-3 overall record and a 0-1 record in the GSC. UWG dropped a Tuesday matchup at Shorter in three sets to start their GSC schedule. Amanda Miller leads the Wolves in assists (117), while Tiffany Ancrum has the team lead in kills (41).
 
SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers own a 7-19 all-time record against West Florida and a 38-13 record against West Georgia. UAH fell to West Florida in both matchups last season but split two matches with West Georgia.
