PHOTOSHUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team dropped a Gulf South Conference matchup to No. 19 West Florida on Friday evening in three sets (21-25, 16-25, 21-25) at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.

The Chargers (3-3, 1-1 GSC) started strong against the nationally-ranked Argonauts (7-0, 1-0 GSC) as the team had a 10-5 lead early in the frame thanks to a six point rally. UAH kept pace throughout the game and had a 21-19 lead late but UWF fought back with a six point run to take the first set.

Sophomore
Rachel Brugman had an outstanding first set notching three kills in three attempts to go along with three block assists.
Alexis Deal also chipped in with two block assists.

The Argonauts controlled much of the tempo in the second set winning the stanza by a score of 25-16. UAH kept up with West Florida through 20 points as the Chargers were able to tie the set at 10-10 amidst a four point run that included two kills by freshman
Anna Claire Johnson. However, UWF pulled away on a six-point rally and won the set.

UAH again kept pace with UWF in the third set with the game tied at 18-18 late in the frame. West Florida then went on a five point run to take a 23-18 lead. UAH rebounded with a three point rally to make the score 24-21, but West Florida was able to capitalize on the ensuing volley to complete the three-set win.

Freshman
Kirsten Giles recorded her second consecutive double-double with 10 assists and 13 digs. Senior
Ashton Baker led the squad with 15 assists while junior
Kennedie Lariscy totaled a team-best 14 digs.

The Chargers will be back in action tomorrow at home against West Georgia. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
