HIGHLIGHTS | PHOTOSHUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team is off to its hottest start since 1997 as the team defeated visiting Talladega on Sunday night to improve to 5-1 on the season. Talladega drops to 2-4.

The victory is also UAH's fifth consecutive, its most wins in a row since 2000.

Starting the scoring for the Chargers was
Anthony Benitez who struck in the 24th minute, taking a
Daniel Buchanan pass and firing it into the back of the net to provide UAH with a 1-0 advantage, and the home side would enjoy a 2-0 lead at the half when
James Ballamy assisted on the first score in the Blue and White for
Ian Dempsey in the 44th.

Taking over the team lead in scoring, Benitez would put the Chargers comfortably ahead in the 63rd when he headed in a ball from
Hermann Bjornsson to make it 3-0 while giving himself four scores on the season, and Bjornsson would open his 2014 account in the 87th minute, scoring to produce the 4-0 final.

Talladega fired off 22 shots in the contest, but only two were on target where UAH keeper
Michael Winstone easily turned the attempts aside to give UAH its fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Chargers took 20 shots on the day including 11 that were on goal, and Benitez led the team with four attempts. Bjornsson had three shots in the game, and each were on frame.

Corner kicks were even at five for both teams.

UAH will now look forward to opening conference play as Mississippi College will visit the Rocket City on Friday night. Kickoff at Charger Park is slated for 7 p.m.
