OPENING 2014 CAMPAIGN: The UAH volleyball team welcomes four teams to Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Friday and Saturday for the Huntsville Marriot UAH Classic, a 10-match event, to open the season. The attending teams include Miles College, Ouachita Baptist, Southwest Baptist, and Trevecca Nazarene.  Further information and a complete schedule can be found here.

RECAPPING LAST SEASON: Head coach Keith Giboney enters his second season at the helm of Charger volleyball, after a 12-21 overall record and a 7-11 conference record in 2013. The Chargers made it to the first round of the GSC Tournament, but fell to Christian Brothers in the initial matchup in five sets.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Chargers will look to build off their strong play in front of their home crowd from last year, when the sqaud owned a 9-3 record at Spragins Hall. UAH opened the 2013 home slate with four straight wins over Alabama A&M, Union, North Alabama and West Alabama. The Chargers' nine wins at home included six victories against GSC opponents.

RETURNING CORE: Nine athletes from the 2013 team return to the court for the Chargers this season.  Key players for the Chargers include senior setter Ashton Baker and junior outside hitter Olivia Bauman. Baker recorded a conference-high 994 assists in 2013, while leading the team with 36 service aces. Bauman earned the Chargers lone 2013 postseason honor with an All-GSC Second Team selection. A Killen, Alabama native, Bauman amassed a team-high 384.5 points and led UAH with 373 kills.

MATCHUPS: The Chargers will play Miles and Ouachita Baptist in the opening day of the UAH Classic, and will finish up with Southwest Baptist and Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday. UAH holds all-time winning records against Miles (2-0), Ouachita Baptist (4-3), Southwest Baptist (6-2) and Trevecca Nazarene (10-2).
