PHOTOSHUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team dropped a back-and-forth affair on Saturday evening, falling 71-67 to visiting Mississippi College in Gulf South Conference action at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers slip to 9-4 (4-3 Gulf South Conference) with the setback, while MC improves to 5-4 (3-4 GSC).

The contest featured 12 lead changes and six ties, and it was the Choctaws who broke the game's last deadlocked score as Tristan Moore scored with 10 seconds remaining in the contest to put his team ahead 69-67 before Tory Rice added a pair of free throws to create the 71-67 final after he secured a defensive rebound on the ensuing UAH possession.

Seab Webster turned in a strong performance for the Chargers, scoring a game-best 22 points while also collecting eight rebounds, and the contest marked the sixth of the season in which the Gurley, Alabama, native has scored at least 20 points.

Joining him in double figures for the Chargers was
Troy Saxton who had a season-high 10.

Webster was particularly strong in the first half as he scored 18 of his points in the opening 20 minutes, helping the hosts build up as much as a seven-point advantage in the period including at 13:17 remaining in the period when the Chargers led 19-12, but the Choctaws outscored UAH 25-14 the rest of the half to take a 37-33 lead into the halftime break.

The second half continued the trend of momentum swings as Mississippi College built up a 43-36 advantage early in the period to enjoy its largest lead of the night at seven, and the Chargers would respond and push the contest back in their favor, eventually going in front by six at 64-58 with just over three minutes left in the contest.

The Choctaws then held UAH without a field goal in the final minutes, outscoring the Chargers 13-3 to win the ballgame.

UAH outshot MC on the night by a 46.3 to 44.8 percent clip, while the Choctaws held a slim 29-28 edge in rebounding.

Rice paced the visitors with a team-high 14 points.

The Chargers will now look to snap their three-game slide on Monday night when Delta State visits Huntsville. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
